They say everything is bigger in Texas

…from Cowboys football to good ol’ Texas BBQ. However it doesn’t get any bigger than Basketball. Bigger competition, bigger plays, and bigger flash.  There’s Elite players everywhere you look from slashers to sharpshooters they got em. Elite players clashing like iron sharpening iron. Coach London Giles from 990 OVR  describes the speciality of Texas basketball as, “Basketball in Texas is special due to its deep-rooted culture, passionate fan base, and a history of producing talented players.”

Texas basketball provides an intense environment with teams and fans engaged every second of the game. But also Texas has provided an environment for players to grow and develop their skills to the point they become elite players.

Coach Crowley the McDonald All-American coach elaborates on that by saying, “Texas basketball is special because we have a collection of some of the best talent in the nation from first grade to the NBA. You can compete against the best teams in the nation without having to leave the state.” He also goes one step further to say,

“Basketball means everything to Texas.”

There’s something different about Texas basketball that inspires hard work, dedication, and grit. But what separates Texas players is their toughness. Brandon Fields from Texas United says,  “I think Texas basketball is some of the toughest basketball in the nation, you have to play on both ends of the court every possession, when we go play in other states the refs aren’t use to the aggressiveness of Texas teams, the referees let you play for the most part in Texas AAU tournaments which creates physical games.” Youth basketball is a whole other ball game and pushes everyone to be their best.

We all know there’s elite basketball all around the world but how can we see it all in one place? Luckily there is an answer for that, it being The Showdown– the place where elite youth basketball comes together to battle it out to see who’s the best. Where is it at? Where else, Texas the breeding ground of elite basketball. Teams from California, Alaska, Washington, Missouri Nevada, Oklahoma, and alongside OGP Club teams as well. The Showdown will have 6 courts of non-stop youth basketball. So if you want to play with the best register for The National Showdown.

But there’s one question everybody wants to know: who’s the best?, I guess we’ll find out at The National Showdown on February 17-19.
