The 2024 signature MLK Classic

The G365 MLK Classic this past weekend was showered with high scorers and players crashing the boards, according to The Passport. Teams from up and down the state of California gathered alongside teams from Arizona, Nevada, Colorado, and Canada. The teams are anticipating the upcoming signature Championship in April hosted by OGP, and have amplified their on court skills to conquer the Orange County youth basketball community and take home the gold. As part of the signature event, the Passport premiered an information and photo hub in order to amplify the media coverage and get the teams excited to showcase their stats and show off their programs.

8U 

West Coast Tigers had quite the shootout with OGP Ladera by splitting the four series 2-2, However West Coast Tigers ended with a dominant win, with a final score 33-11 . Sebastian KamJoo was the standout for the Tigers by achieving a career high of 21 points in the dominant win, alongside being a defensive stronghold with 6 steals. 

9U 

The IE Sixers took the 9U division by storm with 4 straight wins in the classic and dominated the competition; they were able to keep this momentum going and secured the 9U division Championship. Jalon Woods was pouring it in the paint, averaging 10+ PPG and with an even high of 19 points against the Creators.

10U

The IE Sixers took control of the stat leaderboard with having three players in the top 3 spots in the 10U division. Makai Feagin stood out and took the helm for the Sixers scoring a career high 30 points against OGP Ladera, with a total of 14 steals in the G365 MLK Classic.

11U

The Lakeshow battled their way throughout the entire tournament and displayed a triumphant win against Team DTermined (48-41). Kai Koneton put the show in Lakeshow at the G365 MLK classic averaging 20 ppg, 3.6 rpg, and 3.2 spg.

It was time, it was GRYND TIME! Grynd Time went 2-0 winning a very close game against the Lakeshow with a final score of 49-46. Grynd Time’s biggest factor was Grayson Rivers scoring a whopping 26 points from the field, 15 of those points coming from behind the arc. 

13U

Seven Days were red hot throughout the tournament beating 4 teams finishing with a record of 4-1. One of the keys to their success was hooper Dekoda Ray who scored 18.8 ppg and was not afraid to shoot it from downtown with 17 3-pointers made at the G365 MLK Classic. 

14U

IE Sixers dominated their opponents, even winning by 20 plus points.  The IE Sixers stronghold was in player Tariq Johnson, who was Mr. Consistent for them, scoring 20 plus points each game ending with an average of 23.5 ppg and 3.3 pointers per game, a fantastic feat for. this local hooper.

Teams started 2024 showcasing their hard work put in over the holidays and the past year by dominating the basketball courts in Orange County, and will follow the lead up events to conquer the OC youth basketball club program rankings and team standings this season.
