G365: Evergreen Invitational Recap 2023

G365’s Evergreen Invitational took place this past weekend, expanding from Southern California’s local basketball tournaments to the Pacific Northwest: Washington. The event witnessed the participation of 66 teams, all fighting to secure a spot in the G365 rankings. The G365 Evergreen Invitational featured a wide range of talented players across youth and high school divisions, and proved to be an exciting and competitive event. With such a strong showing from the teams, the competition promises to be even more intense in the future Washington events including the Emerald City Classic (October 14-15). The Evergreen Invitational is one of a series of G365 which has been working diligently to transform the Southern California (and more regions) youth basketball tournament landscape through their steadfast commitment to innovation, a solutions oriented approach, and a passion to change the game for the better.

Some of the highlights included:

  • 9U: Rotary Style and PDX Ballers both went into the championship undefeated knowing only one could come out without a trophy. The PDX Ballers were led by Maurice Lighty who put on a show all weekend long and finished the game with a double double (14 Points and 13 Rebounds). Yet, it was no match for Rotary Style who had tremendous team chemistry and were led by MVP Kendrick Lamar. Rotary Style completed their undefeated run with a 31-26 win over the PDX Ballers. Lamar finished the game with 12 Points and 6 Steals and a final tournament statline of 10 Points per game and 7.25 Steals per game.
  • 10U: World Class Elite was the only 10U team that was undefeated in pool play but they ran into #6 Rotary Style in the championship game. The competitive spirit on both teams was a sight to see. World Class Elite led at the half by 6 points but Rotary Style really turned it on in the second half as they defeated World Class Elite in a nail biter 44-42. MVP Andre Jackson was everywhere in this one as he finished with a final game statline of 8 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block, and 6 steals.
  • 11U: Build4Ball Impact was able to get payback in the championship game after Team Blackout defeated them in their first game of the tournament. MVPs Jaxon DePell and Benjamin Lepisi put on an exceptional performance in the championship game as they willed their team to victory. DePell finished the game with 19 Points, 7 Rebounds, 5 Assists, and 2 Steals. DePell’s teammate, Lepisi finished with a double double that consisted of 10 Points and 12 Rebounds along with 4 Assists as Built4Ball defeats Team Blackout 68-64 in the championship.
  • 12U: The 12U division was loaded with talent this weekend. World Class Elite completed their undefeated weekend by defeating the #12 NW Greyhounds in the championship game with a final score of 54-47. MVP Zelalem Poulin had his hands full guarding Corbin Williams, who earned All-Tournament this weekend, but was able to get the job done. Poulin finished the tournament with a final statline of 12 Points per game and 6.25 Rebounds per game.
  • 13U: #15 NW Prodigy had their hands full competing with loads of talent in the 13U Gold Division but they showed why they are the only team that is ranked. NW Prodigy was led by MVP Myjeer Rigney who put outstanding all weekend long. Rigney helped his team go undefeated on the weekend and finished with a final statline of 15 Points per game, 2 Rebounds per game, and 1.2 Steals per game.
  • 14U Gold: The PDX Baller’s only loss on the weekend was to #2 Rotary Style but they gave themselves a shot for revenge in the championship game. Rotary as a team is a difficult team to play against because they are able to get it done on both ends of the floor. PDX locked in and defeated #2 Rotary style 59-54 and was led by MVP Malakai Fong who produced a double double in the championship game (17 Points and 10 Rebounds).
  • 14U Bronze/Silver: Was dominated by one team all weekend long and that was Rotary Style 7 Blue. Although they were playing up a grade they didn’t use that as an excuse to let down. They won by an average of 37.6 points per game and William Conroy received MVP honors. Conroy provided great leadership to his team as they were competing with older kids and he helped keep his team steady all weekend long. Conroy finished with a final statline of 8 Points per game, 4 Assists per game, and 2 Steals per game, and even had a game where he produced a double double that consisted of 10 Points and 11 Assists which is a rare double double.
  • The HS Division at G365 Evergreen had loads of talented players including MVP Amare Breedlove who was able to get a championship for World Class Elite in the 15U Division. Breedlove finished the tournament with 24.25 Points per game. MVP Hezekiah Ponder averaged 23.2 Points per game and was able to lead NW Finesse to an undefeated weekend in the 16U Division. MVP Jordan Bailey and Fuego were battling all weekend and were able to secure a championship in the 17U division.
