G365: Spring Hoopfest Recap 2023

The G365 Spring Hoopfest kicked off this past weekend in the Orange County cities of Anaheim and Ladera Ranch providing players and spectators with intense competition. An important event in the Orange County Club basketball tournaments, Spring Hoopfest was filled with dedicated teams, supporters and coaches who wanted to see their teams succeed. This year’s event saw an impressive turnout of over 200 teams, each competing to be crowned champion and fighting to be in the G365 Rankings. Teams from out of town (Mexicali, Arizona, NorCal, Las Vegas) travelled to participate in the premier Southern California basketball tournament and showed their dedication and effort put into their sport and teams.

Some Highlights included:

Vegas Elite made their way down to the Spring Hoopfest with 5 teams. As a whole they took care of business and won 4 out of the 5 divisions that they were in, including 9U, 12U Silver Gold, 13U Bronze Copper, and 14U Silver North. Derek Chappell earned MVP honors for the 9U team as he averaged 13.2 Points per game, 3 Rebounds per game, and 3.6 Steals per game. The 12U Vegas Elite team won by an average of 57 points per game and were led by MVP Max Camacho. Next, the 13U team also went undefeated and won a close one in the championship by 3 points against Game Speed. They were led by Marck Marshall and Kingston Terry-Jackson. Lastly the 14U team was battle tested by G1 Elite as they beat them by 3 in both of their games including once in the championship game. Taj Ingram led the way as he averaged 10.5 Points per game and 2.25 Rebounds per game. 

13U Gold: #6 7 Days had an exceptional weekend at the Spring Hoopfest winning all of their games by at least 10 points. 7 Day’s own MVP Charlie Adams was a man on a mission. He finished the tournament averaging 22.6 Points per game and 2 Steals per game during the Spring Hoopfest. #6 7 Days and MVP Charlie Adams battled it out with All Tournament’s Edmond Johnson and OGP Anaheim Black. Johnson had 18 points and 7 rebounds but it was no match for Adams and 7 Days as OGP lost in the championship game 58-48.

14U Gold: #16 7 Days coasted on the weekend until they met Pro Skills once again in the championship game on Sunday. 7 Days won the first match up by 19 but All Tournaments Cassius Britt and Pro Skills locked in and battled all the way until the end. Yet, 7 Days once again came out with the win and the trophy led by MVP Christopher Sanders and and All Tournaments Carter Fulton. MVP Christopher Sanders finished with final tournament statline of 18 Points per game, 7 Rebounds per game, and 4.5 Assists per game.  

Girls Divisions:  The Girls Divisions as whole had an abundance of talent. She’s Empowered Sports was led by MVP Jordan Janae Brown as she dominated this division. Here’s a crazy stat, Brown outscored her opponent 2/4 games and she was off by one point in one of the games. In the 7th/8th Girls division, MVP Maya Mahone led her team to an undefeated weekend as they went 5-0. Mahone had a tournament statline of 11.8 Points per game, 5.4 Rebounds per game, and 2.6 Steals per game. In The Frosh/Soph/JV Division, the 805 Mustangs had an amazing weekend and won by an average of 44 points.
