2023 G365 Dance in the Desert Recap

The desert came alive with electrifying energy as 45 teams from San Diego, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Texas, and Arizona gathered for an unforgettable basketball dance in the desert. The stage was set for a remarkable display of talent from players and teams in this weekends premier youth basketball tournament. The competition was fierce, and the players left it all out on the court with some exceptional performances creating an atmosphere of pure excitement and leaving lasting memories for all who witnessed this incredible event, and foreshadowing the excitement for the next upcoming youth basketball tournament: Valley of the Sun!

  • The new #1 AZ Gremlins came to play this weekend at our Dance in the Desert tournament. They went 4-0 and went through some tough teams including the former #1 G365 ranked Phx Nomads and the #4 G365 ranked Vegas Torch. The Gremlins were led by MVP Sauce Thomas and All tournament Reggie Hedin. Thomas had an exceptional weekend as he put up 17 PPG along with 2 SPG. Reggie Hedin played well all weekend long and finished the championship game with a double double that consisted of 12 points and 13 rebounds.
  • AZ Hoop Code’s 9U and 14U teams were unstoppable this weekend as they finished with a combined record of 8-0, their 9U and 14U teams emerged as the undisputed champions at Dance in the Desert. Leading the charge for the 9U squad, Allen Carapetian showcased his exceptional skills, earning him MVP honors with an impressive average of 10.4 points per game. Meanwhile, Myles Godfrey looked unstoppable on the court for the 14U team, securing his place as the 14U MVP with a remarkable 16 points per game. Additionally, Brandon Mendoza‘s stellar performance earned him a well-deserved spot in the All Tournament team for the 14U team.
  • In the 10U division, AZ Underrated started the tournament by losing to AZ UH Elite but they were able to get a shot at redemption in the championship game. AZ UH Elite won the first game by double digits and were led by All tournaments Jalen Austin. In the championship game, MVP Duane Eason Jr. led his AZ Underrated team as they came out of that game with a victory and a trophy.  
  • The 11U #25 AZ Gym Rats dominated the weekend and claimed victory in the championship game. With an impressive 4-0 record, they showcased their team effort and chemistry by defeating a tough AZ Phenoms squad with a commanding score of 48-32. Leading the charge and earning MVP was none other than Isaac Howard, whose exceptional performance led his team to an undefeated record. Moreover, Gerald Minnott‘s outstanding contributions earned him a well-deserved spot in the All Tournament team. 
  • In the 12U division #1 G365 Ranked SE Supreme secured the championship victory over AZ Hoop Code. In a thrilling showdown, SE Supreme emerged victorious, cementing their dominance on the court. SE Supreme was led by Walter Hennix who earned the MVP title, whose exceptional skills and impressive performance provided an average of 32 points per game along with 6 rebounds per game. Alongside Hennix, Amari O’Neal showcased his exceptional talent, earning a well-deserved spot in the All Tournament team. 
  • The 13U Team DTermined LA claimed the championship title in spectacular fashion by going undefeated on the weekend. Leading the charge and earning MVP was Patrick Lam. Lam showed off his exceptional skills and determination on the court and averaged 9.22 PPG and 3 RPG.
